Current Favourites (August 2015)

Since I have been gone for so long, I thought the best way to start back is to mention some of the things I have been loving while I was gone!

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette:

Whenever there is make up on my face, this saviour is there. These make such a gorgeous setting powder if used lightly, and a subtle but beautiful highlighter of used a little heavier. I usually use a big fluffy brush over all three and set any base I have on. There is so much hype around this, but I’m totally on the bandwagon for this. Currently AU$87 at Mecca Cosmetica.

Elizabeth Arden Visible Difference BB Cream:

I bought this 100% on a whim after the sales lady using it on me one day. And because I had so many tinted moisturisers and BB creams, this got pushed to the back for a while. When I was packing for my move I decluttered my makeup collection I decided to give it another go, and realised why I bought it in the first place. It has decent coverage for a BB cream and doesn’t leave my skin flaking (and looks great under the aforementioned powder). But beware. It does have a pretty strong scent, and it does tend to linger. However it doesn’t seem to irritate me, and my skin is relatively sensitive. Currently AU$40 at Adore Beauty.

Benefit Fake Up:

I will put it out there and say I thought this was WAY overhyped when it came out that I thought I’d wasted my money big time. I was used to much more liquid-y concealers and couldn’t get this to work. But after using up my go to concealer, I’d promised that I would make myself use the ones I had. So I ended up trying this the same way I applied other concealers: with a small duo fibre blending brush. Well, did the heavens open up and angels sing. It spread the perfect amount without getting cakey. And it really does make me look more awake ūüėČ Currently AU$38.50 at Adore Beauty.

Alpha H Micro Cleanse:

Just everything about this exfoliator makes me happy. It’s got AHA’s for chemical exfoliation, and rice bran for a small amount or physical exfoliation. This gets rid of my flakes so well, without leaving me feel *too* dry. I’m so glad I bought this in a 2 for 1 deal at Adore Beauty, because I’m not without as I use up the first tube! (And if you were interested Adore, actually have the same deal going on RIGHT NOW! Get on it!

Kiehl’s Rare Earth Deep Pore Cleansing Masque*:

This arrived in my mail box not long after I had moved in, and right after I had been searching for a new mask to combat all the stresses of moving. And at first, I was a little dubious, as I always consider clay masks to be stripping, and not really injecting any moisture in. But along with the Amazonian clay, this mask has oatmeal and aloe vera, which inject so much moisture into your newly cleared pores. I’ve used this 4 or 5 times now and I’m still probably only about 1/3 of the way through the tub, so it’s value for money in my books. Currently AU$36 from Kiehl’s AU

Current Beauty Favourites (April 2014)

I always love reading people’s favourites posts, even if it is the biggest enabler to me buying new things. But I don’t ever feel like I change things up enough to warrant posting it monthly. So I have decided to do them when I think I have enough things I really love. So they may be monthly, they may be further apart! Anyway, lets get into some sweet favourites!

Lip Love: L’Oreal Paris Infallible Le Rouge Lipstick in Forever Fuchsia

So, I have an affinity for buying bright lipsticks. They catch my eye and I can rarely say no. The¬†L’Oreal Paris Infallible Le Rouge lipstick in ‘Forever Fuchsia’ has been my most recent purchase and love.

It is the most amazing deep fuchsia colour, that on closer inspection,¬†actually¬†has a blue shimmer¬†running¬†through it. Although, you can’t actually see it when it’s on your lips. This is the perfect colour if you want to go for a rich shade, but don’t want to go quite into red territory.

Illamasqua I’mperfection Collection: Blusher Duo + Liquid Eyeliner

If you can’t tell by the name of my blog, I’m not one for being perfect. I¬†misspell words*, I trip over air and I certainly do not have perfect skin. But to me, that’s the beauty of people. We are all different, and that should be¬†embraced. Well, with Illamasqua’s new collection I’mperfection (see what they did there?!), they do just that. They want to see your freckles, scars and beauty marks, in all their glory. Yep, scary right? Well it doesn’t have to be ūüėČ There’s no need to hide behind make up, use it to show yourself off! I¬†implore¬†you to check out the¬†behind the scenes video¬†of this collection and see what the leaders of this company say about imperfection and beauty, it¬†really¬†is lovely to see. And check out these gorgeous photos from the campaign. Every single person is beautiful, no matter their imperfections.

Tag: Why do I wear make up?

This little tag post comes to you thanks to Sophie at Don’t Stop Buying. And hopefully you will learn a little more about me and love of make up! And sorry for the lack of posts recently (which includes no February empties!), but I shall show you why in a upcoming post ūüėČ

1. When did you begin loving make up?

When I was much younger, I really loved make up. I loved going through my mum’s stash and having a little play, and even had quite a stash of nail polishes myself. In my very early in my teens I went through a phase thinking I was ‘over it’ and even threw out my nail polishes and vowed I would only every use lipgloss, never lipstick! But as I reached the back end of high school I started looking more into what I could actually do with make up. Then I found Youtube and beauty blogs, from there I haven’t really looked back.

2. How do you feel without make up?

While I love wearing make up, being without it doesn’t phase me. I think make up should be there to enhance your features, not hide them, and being comfortable in your own skin (literally!) really helps you appreciate make up when you wear it. We all have bad days with dark circles and breakouts, but those are the days where make up is your best friend ūüėČ
