So, last week I mentioned my love for the colour turquoise. It’s the colour of the wall in my current bedroom, and I even have a cover on my laptop in it. But surprisingly it’s not a common colour in my nail polish collection. I have a few, but I find it a little difficult to wear, so I’m a little picky when it comes to choosing them. I love China Glaze’s Turned Up Turquoise for its colour, but as you will see, it’s a little deceiving.
I going to put this out there first. The colour you see is NOT what you get on the nail. First off, it’s a neon polish. Neons are notoriously difficult to capture, and this is no exception. The actual colour leans for more green based than the picture depicts. I tried all the settings and edited, and nothing came close. Is showing you this a little redundant? Maybe, but these are the kind of things I go to blogs for (and because I got caught out on this polish). So I did. A much more accurate colour can be found on this blog post I found.
But I also wanted to mention the formula. Again, being a neon, it dries matte (most, but not all do). This isn’t necessarily an issue all the time, but this polish was SO streaky and it took a top coat to clean it up in real life, but you can still see many of the streaks in the photo above. I think the fact this had a shimmer running through it also exacerbated any minor imperfection in my nail. The formula is relatively thin and the brush is awfully small, leading to a horrible application. Which is sad, because I still love the colour that it is in person, but it takes a lot of effort to get right. And let’s face it, I would like the colour it looks like on camera too, because that would be darn pretty!
