In January, I got the chance to visit the Illamasqua counter in Melbourne Central to enjoy a make over by one of the lovely make up artists. On a side note, I went in the opposite direction after getting off the train and had to rush, on a 30-something degree day! I essentially turned up looking like a tomato. Flustered as I was, I was greeted by the lovely Rebecca, who sat me down and after having a little chat all things awesome about Illamasqua, got started.
She matched me to their Skin Base Foundation, which I have already and love. However with their recently expanded range of shades, I now have an even closer match. It along with some concealer and powder, I was beginning to look a lot less like the hot (literally) mess I walked in looking like!
Next she used the Complement Palette on my eyes. The cream in this works as a great base and the light shade can not only be a highlight, but used over the other colours do create a whole new look! I then asked her to give me some tips on applying liquid eyeliner. I’m apparently blessed with big eyes, so going for a thicker line wouldn’t look bad. And after seeing the difference between her application and mine, I know what I was doing wrong!
Finally, was some blush, highlighter and a purple lip, which I was a little scared of, but the final look was great!. I loved how the look came together and was really perfect for a night out (too bad I had no where to go *sob*). Check out the photos below for how my look went! And big props to this look holding up another trip home in the heat before I took pictures 😉
So, for a little Sunday night fun, I thought I would do a little tag post. Giving you some insight into my make up style. Read on!
1. EEK! You’ve got five minutes to do your make up for a date. What’s your minimum?
Base, blush, mascara and lips. Pretty simple
2. Pick a trend – crazy cat eyeliner, super hot pink blush or feathered false lashes?
Eyeliner for sure. Even if I suck at applying it!
3. If you had to either give up all makeup for two months or give up your skincare for a week, which would you pick?
Skincare, only because I’m lucky enough my skin isn’t terrible. But I’d be keeping away from my waterproof make up!
4. What beauty products are always in your purse?
A ridiculous number of lip products (see below for a recent example) and occasionally a face powder, if I think I’ll want to touch up.
Welcome to another instalment of “What’s in my Bellabox?” See what I did there? Ok, enough with the bad jokes, lets get into what I received. And fittingly this arrived on Valentine’s Day, such is the theme of this box.
Gatineau Melagtogenine Future Plus Day and Night Cream- This says it is an anti ageing product, so I probably would have preferred one of the other options.
Let’s face it. We all like to make the days between washing our hair as long as we can. All the washing, conditioning, blow drying and extra styling are a huge pain in the rear end when you could totally spend that hour 15 minutes in bed. Enter dry shampoo. Ever since discovering this life saving (yeah, it’s that dramatic) invention, I can’t be without a bottle.
In an effort to reduce the amount of products I have sitting on my shelf, I took it upon myself to start actively using up things. For me, not a New Year’s resolution, or a project pan/no buy, as forcing myself to those parameters was likely to fail. Just a shift in my thinking to realise that I have too many of certain items! And with that, I bring you a large first empties post for 2013. Hold onto your horses, kids.
