Confessions of a Beauty Blogger

The lovely Sophie from Born to Buy tagged me in this post (and you can check out her post here), so here are my confessions- cue the Usher music…

1. How many hours a week do you spend planning/writing/uploading posts?
It depends on the kind of post I’m writing. Some can take half an hour, while ones that require photos and extra editing can take longer. Also, I tend to work in bursts because I’m easily distracted I work on multiple ideas at the same time.
2. Are you a spender or a saver?
I think I sit somewhere in the middle of the two. I’m quite partial to a impulse buy when I want, but I also know how to put aside money for when I do need it. I wasn’t like this for a long time, but I am learning.
3. When is it easiest for you to write your posts?
As much as I love to write, I can’t force it when I’m not feeling it (even this post has taken a couple of sessions to write). I can type out two or three posts in one sitting and not feel like doing anything for the next week. It’s not a time or place thing for me, I choose to strike while the iron is hot!

Review: Lush ‘Big’ Shampoo

If you have seen my previous posts, I have a little obsession with Lush to say the least. It hurts my soul to not have a bath to use all the bath bombs and melts, so instead I buy everything else in sight. I had never delved into their hair care, but after Chelsea raved about the ‘Big’ Shampoo on twitter, I had no choice but to get it.

It is safe to say that this product has changed my hair washing life. I have never used a clarifying shampoo before, and have no idea why I put it off! There’s no other way to describe my hair after using this except, clean. And it smells incredible. It contains seaweed, lime juice, coconut oil, neroli oil and mandarin oil, all to add softness and shine. After my hair has dried, it certainly felt softer and shiner, and lacked all the frizziness I sometimes get from certain shampoos. As you can see from the ingredients list below, it still contains sodium laureth sulfate, which some people will not like, as it can be irritating. I don’t have this issue luckily, because I love this shampoo so much.

Bellabox: November 2012

I honestly can’t believe we are almost at the end of the year! But summer is almost upon us and Bellabox is helping prepare for all those Christmas parties we have planned. So let’s get into the contents of this month’s box!

Bioderma Crealine H20 Cleansing Water- I love this stuff, I have it in full size, but I really like having this for travel. Great make up remover.

4me Nail Polish Remover Pads- I love the idea of these, since I am the kind of person who wants to remove the polish when one chip occurs! Will be keeping in my handbag. Read More »

Haul: A Little Bit of Everything

Over the past few weeks or so, I’ve been on the hunt for a number of things, and wanted to pick up some old favourites, and it has been quite some time since I bought anything worthy of a haul post (and coming up to Christmas, there probably wont be in the near future either!) but as you will see, these are pretty exciting!

First of all, I stopped by Lush. I needed a new pot of Big shampoo because I have used it up. Buy far the best clarifying shampoo I have used. I also got to bring in my 5 empty pots for a free face mask. Oatifix is my choice, perfect for my dry skin (and with Melbourne weather up and down as it is, I need it!). My other two purchases were a couple of soaps from their Christmas range. Snow Globe has a lovely lemony scent, and Mr Punch smells like, well, punch actually. These blocks can last ages, just but cutting them up into pieces! Read More »

October Empties!

One step closer to the end of the year, and some more products get to enter my bin. Do I give any a second life? Read on and find out!

Burt’s Bees Facial Cleansing Towelettes- My skin really didn’t like these, ended up only using them for cleaning swatches off my arm, which my skin was still not particularly fond of. And cleaning the occasional make up off my desk! You’ve got to find uses for them, right? Will not be repurchasing.
Neutrogena Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes- My current and long term favourite, you can see my review here. Already repurchased (and almost used up for that matter!). Read More »
